Having created and composed the initial opening and other various scenes with script so far, what should come next?
The opening is developing, chronologically where should the composition go to from here?
Where in the space/architecture can we move to from here?
What scripted text could we use next?
Develop discussion and respond to each others ideas in order to have a starting point for Tuesday's lesson.....can't wait to start seeing and hearing your ideas!

hi dobby
ReplyDeletewell seeing as we have begun to create and compose our opening we should maybe incorporate some of our ideas with drews to finish it off. i think we should also revise some of the other various scenes that we did last term to perhaps clean them up or improve them so we are able to put together our somposition.
the opening is nearly finished so we should maybe look at the story again to see what happens next so we can move on from where we are.
as we start in the cultural precinct maybe we could move to like the big tree area in front of the science block or even out in that middle school area maybe. can we move outside?
in regard to scripted text we could use words like "innocence" or even K's name to maybe start telling the story to our audience so they are able to get a clear picture of what is happening within the story.
well thats my ideas
cant wait to see everyone else's
hope everyones having a great weekend and cant wait til tuesdays lesson!!
xo
From moulding the opening scene and a few other scenes utilising scripts from "the trial" we should consider to edit the ones we have touched on expanding its structure further. This could be achieved by focusing on each section (groups) within the scene, eg. clear syncronization, movements. if there were dramatic pauses make it seem noticable. This includes what isabella has said, having our ideas and drews to create the satisfing end to the opening and starting the next scene.
ReplyDeleteFrom the development of the opening scene chronologically we should consider the next scene. I thnk its when his day acts just as normal as the day before, is it when his said to be arrested but does not get physically arrested?
I believe we should use either the middle school area or the big tree as Isabella has mentioned however i think it would be more effective if the middle school court yard is used. The number one reason for this would be because of the flow of movement through the audience, it would be easier for them to get there then the big tree and more can be used, levels, architecture ect.
We could consider->From the CP we could link a movement that creates the action to open the large doors towards the middleschool court yard outside the MS blocks. Here we could call our audience to follow or somehow make them go out into that area without even noticing our intentions. For example. through the scenes we could make that the audience end up near the doors bak towards the door.... as things happen infront of the audience the doors could begin to slowly open and we could be backing into the audien ce making them move backwards towards the yard. if that made any sense.?
The office of how he recieves a phone call could be played with next. we could use the theme of "confusion" and possible "frustration" and "innocence" as mented by isabella, to create the scenes.OR we could play with isabellas idea of starting to narate the story.
hope that made any sense i think i got confused myself at times.... well theres my contribution =)
see you on tuesday
I agree with what both Nina and Isabel have said. I think we should further finish the opening that drew choreographed and maybe even add some of our own ideas into it making the performance tie together more as they’re all based on the same ideas? If that makes any sense…I think what Nina says about tying the action of opening the doors and guiding the audience out into the performance is a really good idea or even we could tell the audience to move like what the Jesters did in the Tempest and play it up a bit. As an idea, remember how we were doing random physical theatre compositions just to get the feel of them and Dani’s and Kirsty’s group did theirs underneath the stairs in the cultural precinct? If we could pull it off and maybe do something on the top of the stairs while the audience is underneath…and use the gaps to represent jail bars? Or being caged in? If we could pull it off creatively it would be pretty cool although the audience may get sore necks from looking up…but that doesn’t matter : )
ReplyDeleteUsing the Middle School Courtyard would be good because there are different architectures branching off from the courtyard, e.g the balconies, the slopping trees with the fence, the cement boxes, the stairs etc. There’s a whole heap of different areas we can play with and see what works and what doesn’t. I think what we need to do is all sit and look at the script and pick out different dialogues and scenes that we all want to use and go from there…and maybe even use some of the scenes created last term but defiantly work on them some more.
Sorry if I confuse you, I really don’t know how to put it all into words hope you understand what I’m trying to say!!! See you tomorrow dobby x
i ment isabella not isabel :D sorrryyyy x
ReplyDeleteSome members of the class are still a little bit confused about the actual story of K and how to represent him. Before breaking into smaller groups to devise sections of the piece I think we should come together as a class and make a list of the scenes. From there we can see which ones we have already choreographed and touch them up. After this process is done we can then move through the “scripted text” chronologically otherwise the scenes will be all over the place, and could cause confusion.
ReplyDeleteWe are extremely lucky to have a school with such unique architecture. It will be more interesting for the audience and more exciting for us if we make use of the space throughout the school. Isabella, Nina and Maddy have all had brilliant ideas as to how we should use the space so far, so I will not repeat their ideas. As a class we need to work out whether or not we will set boundaries in the area we use. For eg. Do we just work within the middle school? Or do we use senior school as well? We need to think about how we can move the audience around easily.
I think the year 11 drama class have come up with some great choreography using the space and architecture already and I can’t wait for us to build on to our ideas on Tuesday! See you then
I agree with Izzy, Maddy, Nina and Annie on how we can use the space to our full potential. The courtyard I am sure will create a breathtaking scene as it can be manipulated in so many ways, but I think it would be used best as the finale scene in which K is killed.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we can do what Maddy suggested and move the audience similar to how the jesters did in The Tempest by interacting with the audience - the authoritive group of people can somehow move into the hallway conjoined with the cultural precint, and the K's from the opening scene can move the audience by questioning them using diologue from the book e.g. "what sort of people were they? What were they talking about? To which authority did they belong?" and could add in "You have to go find out. Go question them" or lalalala something along those lines. In that hallway we could drape a white sheet and do a scene similar to what Eliza's group did, and move into Pam Sexton's room, down into the undercroft, back up the stairs and into the courtyard. This could symbolise K's journey to his confusing death.
I'm sure everyone has fabulous ideas and be can mould something together - thats the beauty of working as a group for once and being so accepting!
agreeing with everyone who has posted a comment so far :), our opeing scene is amazing and will really ingage the audience, but to keep that emotion up we need to keep building with our scenes to make them even better than the one previous,i strongly agree with annie as people are still confused and would like to see a plan of how the scenes will go and what ideas you are thinking of doing in them, so when we get to a particular scene we have some ideas that we could incorprate with your ideas.
ReplyDeletei loved grace's " little baby" how she puts the audience into rows, while throughtout the scene the actors make rows aswell. i also love the creepy voices it makes the scene more emotional.
and with isabella's idea how we broke up into smaller groups and created a scene, we should defintally use them, everyone has been so creative, this is going to be an amazing play :)
see you next tuesday, shame that we dont have drama on thursday :(
